While scanning documents for the CD set noted above, library staff stumbled upon a beautiful map owned by the Town of Riga.  It is a Railroad County and Township Map of New York State dated 1888 showing every railroad station and post office in the state at that time.   Railroad maps illustrate the growth of travel and settlement in the United States.  They provide an important historical record to the development of our Country.   Due to the unique nature and quality of the original, the library had the original refurbished, digitized and reproduced on premium quality glossy Kodak paper so as to make copies available for sale.  High quality in nature, the map measures 33 X 36 inches and is suitable for framing.  A display copy is available at the library.  The cost is $40.00.
