The Newman Riga Library is pleased to announce the availability of a Local History set of compact discs which are for sale.  The first is comprised of images, articles, documents and more, of various Churchville and Riga memorabilia. A built-in search engine is available for easy searching and/or browsing. The second disc in the set is a set of voter registration cards belonging to local residents over a period of time. Such a set is an asset to the amateur genealogist who is looking for bits of information to "fill in the gaps." The set is available for $20.00 and may be purchased at the library. Copies are available for display purposes in  Reference before you decide to purchase.

While scanning documents for the CD set noted above, library staff stumbled upon a beautiful map owned by the Town of Riga.  It is a Railroad County and Township Map of New York State dated 1888 showing every railroad station and post office in the state at that time.   Railroad maps illustrate the growth of travel and settlement in the United States.  They provide an important historical record to the development of our Country.   Due to the unique nature and quality of the original, the library had the original refurbished, digitized and reproduced on premium quality glossy Kodak paper so as to make copies available for sale.  High quality in nature, the map measures 33 X 36 inches and is suitable for framing.  A display copy is available at the library.  The cost is $40.00.
